Greater Is He Within You
“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
— 1 John 4:4
“In this world you will have
trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
— John 16:33
“I have given you authority… over
all the power of the enemy…”
— Luke 10:19
There is an enemy in this world—one
who has influence, spiritual power, and a clear intent to bring trouble into
our lives. It is important to acknowledge this reality because too often we
live as though no opposing forces exist. We want to live out of the natural
world order. Then when difficulty comes, we are surprised—and sometimes even
blame God.
But Scripture is clear: we are not
without understanding that the devil exists in the world but engages us on a
spiritual plane, and, at the same time, we are not left without help.
According to John 10:10, the
enemy is a thief. His agenda is not subtle:
- He seeks to steal our peace, identity, purpose,
and hope
- He aims to kill our joy and drain the life from
us through discouragement
- He desires to destroy our faith, our
relationships, and our sense of identity and belonging
And as 1 Peter 5:8 reminds
us, he is actively looking for someone to devour.
Let’s be honest—this is real. There is
a devil that prowls around wanting to destroy us. But here is the truth that changes
everything:
God has not said He will remove the
enemy from the world. Instead, He has done something even more powerful—He has
placed His Spirit within us.
The Holy Spirit, who is greater than
any force in this world, lives inside of us. Through Him, we are not victims—we
are overcomers. We are not powerless—we are equipped. We are not alone—we are
filled.
We are seated with Christ and
invited to live from a place of spiritual authority and victory.
This means we don’t just experience
peace—we become carriers of it.
- Where the enemy steals, we restore
- Where there is despair, we bring hope
- Where there is confusion, we bring truth
- Where there is brokenness, we carry healing
Life doesn’t just come to us—it
flows through us.
My
Story
When I first came to know the Lord,
my life was marked by deep struggle. I lived with severe depression, anxiety,
confusion, strife, worry, frustration, and anger. I was overwhelmed and often
miserable—so much so that thoughts of death were not uncommon.
What I didn’t understand at the time
was that my life was being stolen from me. I didn’t yet know Christ.
But when I came to know Him,
everything began to change—not all at once, but steadily and powerfully. One by
one, He began to free me.
- Peace replaced anxiety
- Joy replaced heaviness
- Clarity replaced confusion
- Purpose and hope replace despair
Where my life once felt like a barren
desert, God began to cultivate a garden of joy.
He truly gave me beauty for ashes and joy for mourning. I was so poor,
and He made me rich inside.
And when I look back now, I am in
awe.
I love life. I experience deep joy
and peace. My relationships are rich and meaningful. Where I once felt
isolated, judged, and disconnected, I now genuinely love connecting with
others. There is life in me—and it overflows.
So
How Does This Work?
It begins with recognizing who lives
within you.
The same Spirit that raised Christ
from the dead is in you. The power is not something you strive for—it is
something you learn to live from.
As you:
- Create space for God
- Partner with the Holy Spirit
- Align your thoughts with truth
You begin to experience
transformation from the inside out.
And not only that—you begin to
impact the world around you.
You will face trouble in this
world—that is a promise. But you can
come at it from a different angle. Instead of letting it overtake you, you can
overcome it. Not only this, but you can
overtake it. You can bring joy, healing,
and hope to the world around you. You + the
Holy Spirit = The answer to the world’s tribulation. Greater
is He who is in you than anything you
will ever face.
Lord Jesus, Thank You that You have not left us alone to face this world,
but have placed Your Spirit within each one of us when we accept You as our
Savior. Help us to recognize what is from You and what is not. Where anything
has been stolen—peace, joy, identity, or hope—I ask that You restore it. Teach us to live aware of Your presence in
us. Fill us with Your Spirit to overflow
in the world around us- bringing love and healing everywhere we plant our feet.
