With Love From MOM,

I know you have heard it again and again, you may think you know it all by now and would rather listen to your friends.  But there is something that you should know, mom loves for you, cares for you, and wants you to grow.  She was given the gift of wisdom to raise you up, abiding with her daily to help you measure up.  More than anything she hopes the Word you take in, more than giving up that frustrating sin (of not picking up your dirty clothes).  She longs to share it with you and see you flourish, as through the Word you will be nourished.  To get your attention I have prayed into the right words, wanting you to find it relevant, so it will be heard.   Just hoping you soak in a little of it each day, as when you get it, I know you will walk in His ways.

Ever notice that wisdom personified is a mom? Calling you her children she desires with you to walk along.  She cries out for you to listen and follow along, because walking with wisdom, you cannot go wrong.

All translations are mom’s version.

And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful and free.  Listen to my instruction and grow wise; don’t ignore me to your own demise.  Joyful are those who listen to me, watching daily and waiting for me.  For whoever finds me finds life, and receives favor from the Lord instead of strife.  (Proverbs 8:32-35)

Too much talk leads to sin.  Keep your mouth closed, listen and win.   The words of the godly are like sterling silver; adding value as their words deliver.  The words reflect their heart inside, just like those filled with harmful lies.   The words of the godly encourage those around, but with fools words, lack of common sense abounds.  The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice, but the tongue that deceives, will be cut off from their lies. (Proverbs 10:19-21, 31)

When there are losses on every side, in His love, you can abide.   Still dare to hope and remember this:  You can count on His love and faithfulness.  The love of the Lord never ends! No matter the situation, He is a faithful friend.    His mercies are endless and Love is His way, beginning afresh every new day.   I say to myself, “The Lord is my fare”;  He is good to those who look for Him to meet them there.   (Lamentations 3:21-25)

But those who listen and obey God’s Word, show that their faith is not absurd.  Toting Him around like a sentimental rag doll, will surely lead to a fall.  By listening we show we love and in Him are hid—living our lives as Jesus did.  (1 John 2:5-6)

Don’t imitate violent people or copy their ways.  Such as pretending to be them in video games.  Such is evil and detestable to the Lord,  but choose friendship with the Lord and never be bored.  (Proverbs 3:31-32)

You must each decide in your heart how much to give.  Freely without pressure is how to really live.   Don’t give if you have reluctance or feel pressured inside, wait until your enthusiasm rises.  For God loves when you give to Him freely in love, while seeing His greater purpose from above.  In giving in joy you are storing up treasures, and God will pour out measure upon measure.   (2 Corinthians 9:7, Mathew 6:20, Malachi 3:10)

Those who are generous and always giving, will find joy as they are really living (Proverbs 11:25)

A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who plays video games all day ends up the fool.  (Proverbs 28:19)

The Lord is their true place of rest, the hope of their ancestors, and the place they are blessed (Jeremiah 50:7b)

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow His whisper when we hear it.  Let Him direct every part of our lives and we will find that what we do thrives (Galatians 5:25)

A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; a mocker refuses to correction listen.

Wise words will win you favor and friends, but deceptive people have an appetite for violence with no end. Those who control their tongue will have a long life when opening your mouth can cut like a knife.  The godly hate lies manipulating their way, it is better for them to have nothing to say;  Godliness is a guide that guards the path of the righteous, but those without Christ in sin are left sightless.  (Proverbs 13:1-3, 5-6 )

You see, His actions worked to display his faith.  Like concrete poured, they solidified His way.  (James 2:22)

As soon as I pray, You answer me; by giving me strength, You encourage me (Psalm 138:3)

How amazing are all His deeds!  All who delight in Him should ponder them, holding onto every seed. (Psalms 111:2)

Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax.  It destroys their life and shows you don’t have their back.  Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble will only cause you pain.  Trusting them to have your back is a little insane J  (Proverbs 25:18-19)

If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat.  If they are thirsty, give them water to drink.  None of this stuff that is tit for tat, don’t you know God has your back?  Trust in Him and do what is right, don’t needlessly get in a fight.  You might not see now but in years ahead you will know, how taking the high road caused you to grow.  (Proverbs 25:21)

Physical training is good and makes you strong, but training for godliness is what for you, mom longs. It promises benefits not only here, but like a retirement plan it will sustain you even in your eternal years.  (1 Timothy 4:8)

If the godly give in and go along, it’s like polluting a fountain and it only makes them wrong.  So don’t go along with stupid stuff, as God has so much more, He is more than enough. (Proverbs 25:26)

People who long and seek to be rich, fall as they are chasing after that itch.  They are trapped by the many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and start needless fires (1 Timothy 6:9)

Never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord, in sharing the good news, you will never be bored!  (2 Timothy 1:8)

Whether the results we approve or not, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you with our plea, knowing if we obey, good it will turn out to be  (Jeremiah 42:6).  Obey the Lord and learn from other’s life lessons and God will make your life an amazing blessing.

Doing the same things over if they don’t give you good results, is like bringing your life to an unnecessary halt.  There is more hope for fools that are open to learn than for people who think they are wise and for popularity yearn (Proverbs 26:11-12)

We look forward with hope to that wonderful day, when the glory of our Savior will make the way.  Our great, Jesus Christ, will be revealed, and all of our sin will be healed.  We have hope in everything so shout for joy every-day!  For you have been given a Kingdom way.  (Titus 2:13)

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your heart.  Or you will find that the fullness of His presence seems to depart. (1 John 5:21)   If the things of the world clutter up your heart, turn back to Him quickly and get a fresh start.

The Lord is good to those who on Him depend, to those who search for Him to be their friend (Lamentations 3:25)

A quarrelsome person seems to starts fights, as easily as hot embers of charcoal light. It never pays to get in a brawl, when you walk away from it, you stand tall.  (Proverbs 26:21)

The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all treated unfair, hang on baby because God will meet you there.  Blessings abounding are coming your way, He will leave you with nothing to say.  You have a God that loves to set things right, trust Him for it and don’t get in a fight.  (Psalm 103:6)

Those who are generous and always giving, will find joy and they see they are really living (Proverbs 11:25)

Anger is cruel, and wrath is like a flood, but jealousy is even more dangerous – while all lack love.   Guard your heart from these things, let your feet be planted in God’s mercy.   (Proverbs 27:4)

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is like sweet perfume, let it come to you like the morning dew.  Listen to the wisdom of a good friend, because it is like them having money to lend.  (Proverbs 27:9)

Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out!   Tell others you know, He has a lot of clout.  (Psalms 107:2)

Don’t be like a fool who is blind to the truth; ignoring the issues down the road.  Be wise, stay out of lies, plan ahead and lighten your load.  (Proverbs 27:12)

“It was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future to his sons, Jacob and Esau” (Hebrews 11:20).   Don’t be foolish and sell short, the plans of the Lord as a good life you abort.  Learn from these boys there is more to life, than filling your stomach and being right.  Fight for the things that God has your life, seek out His blessings and always keep them in sight.

As workers who tend a fig tree are allowed to eat the fruit, so workers who protect their employer’s interests will walk away with the loot.  (Proverbs 27:18)

Just as death and destruction make life tough, so human desire says we never have enough. (Proverbs 27:20)

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, my life and plans to You were not an illusion.  As I was woven together in the darkness of the womb, You were planning my life from birth to the tomb.   Every moment was laid out, before a single day had passed.  Balancing all the intricacies, you bring them forth at last.   How precious are your thoughts about me, they cannot be numbered.  You watch over me daily and never sleep or slumber.   (Psalm 139:15-17)

The wicked run away, always afraid; but the godly stand their ground and have something to say (Proverbs 28:1).

And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire.  It is a whole world of wickedness when agreeing with the liar.  It can cause your life to be set afire and burn, bringing hurt and pain as from The Way you turn (James 3:6)

What is causing your quarrels and fights as you take sides? Don’t they come from evil desires and lies?  Jealousy, selfishness, and rage war inside, keeping you from peace and His presence to abide.   And when you ask the Lord for help, your motives are all wrong, you only want to be accepted and belong.  But what about doing right for His sake?  Try it and see, good on your life He will make.

I will pursue your commands, for by them my understanding expands (Psalms 119:32)

And remember that the Heavenly Father to whom you pray, picks no favorites along the way.   According to what you do, He will judge or reward you.  So live in reverent fear of Him in all you do.  Remember your time here is as a ‘temporary resident.’  So live for him only and don’t be hesitant.  For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from an empty life of sin and with His own blood He freed you to really live.  (1 Peter 1:17-18)

For the Scriptures say, ‘If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your lips from telling lies and your tongue from evil ways.’  Turn away from division, offense and pride, looking to maintain peace in all your strides. (1 Peter 3:10-11)

May God give you more and more peace and grace as you grow in His knowledge and seek His face! (2 Peter 1:2)

A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who just plays video games ends up the fool.  Don’t live in the world of escape, but work hard and a good life you will make!  (Proverbs 28:19)

Your laws are wonderful and show what is right.  Now wonder I obey them, they give me light.  Even the simple can receive from them and understand.  I pant with expectation, longing for your commands.  Come and show me your mercy, as You do for all who love Your Name.  Guide my steps by Your Word, so I will not live in vain. (Psalms 119:129-133)

Those who trust their own insight are fools, but anyone who walks in wisdom follows God and His rules.  (Proverbs 28:26)

When the life-giving lead, the people rejoice.  But when the demanding are in power, they lose their voice. (Proverbs 29:2)

To flatter friends is to lay a trap for their feet.  Puffing them up falsely will bring their defeat.  People who do wrong are trapped in their sin.  But those who know Jesus will always win [by His blood].  Those who love Jesus, care about the poor; while the heart-hearted walk by, while they look at the floor.  (Proverbs 29:5-7)

Fools are those who vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back seeing the danger. (Proverbs 29:11)  No one told me that I should refrain from venting when I was young, but through my mistakes, I learned that I was doing wrong.  Hold back the anger and count to eight, and you will find that anger dissipates.   Giving it vent only fuels the fire, making it hotter and taking it higher.   Then it becomes hard to turn it around, to gain your senses where good judgement is found.   Stop when you are hungry, angry, lonely or tired (HALT), and then you will keep yourself admired.

An angry person starts all the fights; A hot-tempered person you have to keep in your sights (Proverbs 29:22)

One who talks on and on is a fool, listening and understanding first is the rule.

People with integrity have steps that are firm, but those who walk crooked will shift and turn.

People who overlook wrong cause trouble, creating pain that is double.  Peace comes from a bold reproof, rather than standing back aloof.

The words of the godly are a life-giving drink; the words of the wicked conceal the hate that they think.  Hatred stirs up quarrels and strife, but love makes up for it and creates a good life.  (Proverbs 10:8-12)

Wise people find knowledge as treasure, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster.  When we are learning then we grow, but we will fall on our face if we think we already know. (Proverbs 10:14)

The wealth of the rich they think is their protection; the poverty of the poor they believe is their destruction.  The earnings of the godly enhance their living, while evil people squander their money on sinning. (Proverbs 20:15-16)

We discipline our children so they give us peace of mind, leaving poor choices far behind.   When they listen they will make our heart glad, showing they learned so no longer are they sad.  When teens do not accept any guidance as a child, they become stupid as they run wild.  They think they can now make all their decisions on their own, and fall headlong into the foolishness they have sown.  But whoever obeys Gods ways has joy ahead, filled with purpose as they get out of bed. (Proverbs 29:17-18)

Listen to God on what to speak so your words are those people seek.   There is more hope for a fool than one who speaks without thought.  Prayerfully plan your words well so they will be sought.   Still, servants may hear and not understand, until they see it manifest in the land.  (Proverbs 29:19-20)

A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; while a mocker refuses correction to listen. Wise words will win you favor and friends, but deceptive people have an appetite for want with no end.  Those who control their tongue will have a long life, when opening your mouth can cut like a knife.  (Proverbs 13:1-3)

The godly hate lies manipulating their way, it is better for them to have nothing to say; godliness is a guide that guards the path of the righteous, but those without Christ in sin are left sightless. (Proverbs 13:5-6)

Mockers will agitate everyone else around, but the wise will turn anger by staying calm (Proverbs 29:8). You can shift the atmosphere in a room by your attitude, so remember to be joyful and show gratitude.

Rich people may think their money makes them wise, but a poor person with discernment can see right through these lies.  Our value is not gained from what we do or own, but it is determined by the One seated on the throne.  (Proverbs 28:11)

Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for trouble headlong.  (Proverbs 28:14)

Whoever gives to the poor will lack no good thing, so don’t close your eyes to poverty and abounding goodness God will bring.  (Proverbs 28:27)

Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept correction they hear, by listening to the truth and bending their ear, will suddenly be caught in unexpected trouble, paying consequences that are double.  (Proverbs 29:1)

If a leader gives ear to those who lie, all their advisors will soon be unwise. (Proverbs 29:12)

Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others doesn’t take you higher.  (Proverbs 10:18)

All glory to Him who loves us and has freed us from our ways; by shedding His blood for us, we live forgiven all our days. (Revelation 1:5)
